Experimenting with other waste materials

Almost everything can be used to make something else - Humans aren't the only ones to utilise any material available to enhance their surroundings or sustain themselves. With natural rescources being over used and abused, surely we should all be looking at our own wastefull habits and working harder to re-use materials we have become so used to discarding.

Our experimental page, most recently we have started playing with T-shirts, they are so colourful, versatile and amazingly different textures. Stripping them for knitting is a time consuming and surprisingly dusty pastime but I think the results are worth it. With two young daughters and friends and family, this is one throw away rescource I rarely run out of.

Plastics. Great things are being done in small towns around the country, to stop plastic carrier bags. Alot of recycling centres can now take plastic bottles. A small percentage of the packaging manufacturers now use. Will all plastic disapear overnight ? - We have been doing quite a lot of research into plastics and now have some great information on types and melting points and uses for new sheet materials so its back to the laboratory for us.
